If you follow tech news in general like I do, you probably know that Apple is suing everybody who has any affiliation with Google's Android at all. HTC and Samsung cases have received the most attention in the Apple biased blog sphere because they are cases in which Apple has won, though one case in particular that received a lot of fanfare from Apple fans actually voided one of Apple's frivolous patents. Apple fans the world over were too busy kissing Jobs' butt to notice. Motorola recently sued Apple over mobile technologies and won. This was largely ignored by Apple fans but reported on by Android and Microsoft centered blogs. All that to say that I won't blame you for thinking that Google and their Android OEMs are just bunch of thieves. It's difficult to search the web without reading from the Apple biased media about how Apple is awesome and Google (and Microsoft, for that matter) is garbage.

The Tech Companies I Love and Hate: Google
People don't web search something anymore; they Google it. No one Yahoos or Bings, they Google. People don't use the yellow pages, they Google. You're favorite web site's search bar is likely powered by Google. It's fast. It's efficient. It's smart. Even though that's what Google is known for, it's not why I love them.
I had been using Microsoft's Hotmail for years when I received an invite to use Gmail. I wasn't interested in switching emails, but I decided to give it a whirl. It's awesome. It's quick. It's simple. It's very Google. from there, I started using Google Calendar. I was using iCal prior to this. I promptly stopped. You see, iCal is an Apple software available only to those using Macs. Google Calendar works anywhere that there's an internet connection and a web browser. And yet, these things are still not why I love Google the way that I do.

Nintendo and Sony vs The World
For over two decades, Nintendo has completely dominated a market that they single-handedly created: the hand held market. They've left many foes in their unstoppable wake. The biggest casualty being that of Sega. And although Sony has managed to survive an entire hand held life cycle, it's been an extremely rough ride. But as the two juggernauts prepare to release the Nintendo 3DS and the Sony Next Generation Portable, they may soon find that they are on the same team as a common and much bigger foe emerges: the mobile industry.
